I think the color slider is actually White Balance.
Best results for darker light condition is with color all up (255) and
brightness all down (0). There is a strange behavior with brightness. If
brightness is 1 you have the darkest possible picture. If brightness is
0 you have the most bright picture?

You did use my special modified version. This version is not valid
anymore with the newest driver version. Please use the official one from
the gspca page:

There are a lot of task to do:
- the picture is flickering -> the jpeg decoder is not working very good
- the picture is pixeled -> the jpeg decoder is not working very good
(maybe quantization table?)
- the picture is to dark compared with the Windoz driver -> find good
register settings (maybe also problem with jpeg decoder, too?)
- don't have much control of the cam -> find the good registers
- find the register to turn off jpeg compression and stream raw data ->
good way to compare quality of jpeg decoding.
- And many more I think.....
