I got the new values from latest Logitech driver with usbsnoop. With 
careful setting of contrast and brightness the camera can now take 
pictures even in daylight, see example here:

There is no auto-adjusting of these sensor settings but I am planning to 
implement auto-adjusting by using image data from camera. There was 
discussion on spca50x-devs a while ago. Should we implement a generic 
adjustment system to gspca so that it could be used by other cameras too?

I have also noticed that the camera seems to lockup (very rare) randomly 
if there is too much data to be sent over USB connection. Without this 
patch the framerate seems to be lower and there are no lockups.
