This version of driver quite old.
Latest version is gspcav1-20070110.
See http://mxhaard.free.fr/download.html

You does not need recompile all kernel. 
Just build and install gspcav1 driver. 
Kernel should be  complied with V4L support of course.
Driver will be load automatically after (re)plug you webcam .
