Hai MJ,

Have you tried: 

apt-get install cifs-utils if its not installed. 
man mount.cifs  ( if cifs-utils isnt installed no mount.cifs on debian.) 

And test with : 
mount.cifs //server/share /mnt/point -o vers=2.1
