coincidental. - A friend & colleague emailed me 13 hours ago talking
about a recent Microsoft update purportedly bricking machines for his
clients. - Here's how he worked around it:
Windows BSOD, 7, 8, and 10.
Stop error 0x00C4. (0x91, 0x00, 0xF8somethinglong, 0x00).
Caused by the latest Windows January Rollup update....
You can't safe mode, nothing. Only solution is to go into recovery
console, and run a dism command to "uninstall a pending update". After
that, I can reboot, check WU again, it shows that the update failed,
and then you recheck, and hide this Rollup, or it does it again.
I don't know if it's the same thing or not. But here's hoping that if
it is, this will help people avoid massive problems, like
re-installation (or restoring from backups).
