Two of the three previous messages I see in this group today, the
messsages sent at 2018.01.03 10:26 UTC and at 2018.01.03 10:28 UTC,
seem to be spam. Is that possible? Shouldn't this messages be filtered or deleted by some admin? The messages very clearly state instructions to help the spammers making more victims. And they may use this group to make much more of them. So it is not hard to find other users here that, like myself, should agree with those two messages being removed
from this group.

moz.general is not moderated. I suppose someone could be asked to set up
spam filters on it every month or os. In the meantime, set your own
filters, or just delete the useless messages. That's what I do.

How would I filter/delete when using USENET?
I run User agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:51.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/51.0 SeaMonkey/2.48

The same way you would filter the spam in the Mozilla newsgroups like mozilla.general.

But spam filters are grayed out for Thunderbird for Newsgroups.

That's why I posted links on how to create filters.

Mine work like a charm. An occasional tweak is required.

I used those on email years ago before Thunderbird got a proper spam filter that learns.  They were cumbersome and not very effective.

Why can't the spam filter for email be used on Newsgroups also?

Maybe the Junk filter works for the mailing lists.
