If I don't KNOW that it's trash I don't throw it away.  Slightly different, and I've made mistakes, but not many since I'm so brilliant :-)

Or at least skim it.  Most people don't even do that.

Sometimes it is difficult. Apple, for instance, never publishes their IOS User Guides until a day or two AFTER releasing a new major update. Annoying to an avid manual reader, but then I am probably the only one on earth that actually READS the things.
