We have https://cgit.kde.org/ffmpegthumbs.git, which is not very actively developed.
There is also this upstream project https://github.com/dirkvdb/ffmpegthumbnailer which appears to be more actively developed.
It seems kind of wasteful to have two projects that do exactly the same thing, each with few resources and low levels of interest. What do folks think about approaching the maintainer of the project on GitHub and asking if they want to merge with ours? Or should we abandon ours and tell distros to package his instead? Or are there good reasons to keep ours separate that I'm not aware of?
Right now, just dropping one for the other is not possible.
Our one is a KIO thumbnailer. The other is a command line program.
